Well, they’re right about one thing. Loki is not a villain. He’s an antagonist, a sympathetic anti-villain(click to read definition Loki is listed as an example). Motivated by personal tragedy with a willingness to do anything to reach his greater goals.
E.g Red Skull and Thanos are villains, Loki and Magneto are anti-villains.
